See The World… With Carden Academy of Huntington Beach
Carden Academy Huntington Beach enhances their educational experience for its students with international world travel to such magnificent and fascinating destinations as England, France, China, Australia, Italy, and Japan. Junior High students are able to share the 10-12 day experience with their parents and siblings.
“Travel is a great diversion from the classroom and offers a unique and memorable learning experience," says Carol Van Asten, director of Carden Academy Huntington Beach. "Our philosophy is to complement the classroom experience by incorporating elements of curriculum into world travel."
Students at Carden Academy Huntington Beach study the country and its culture before travel. Then students have the opportunity to experience their classroom study first hand. Carden Academy believes in an education based on the total immersion of life experiences in conjunction with classes. We emphasize discovery, adventure and exploration.
Science Camp: Catalina Island Marine Institute
 |
|
Our 5th and 6th graders experience hands on, experimental science education at the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI). CIMI provides a unique, exciting program that's the perfect way to enhance any student's education!
They use state-of-the-art labs and equipment to create an environment where children are excited about learning science. Their instructors and the beautiful natural land and sea environments of Catalina Island, strive to increase science literacy and stimulate minds.
During their 3 day stay, students and teachers have the opportunity to experience, first hand, the diverse flora and fauna found in Southern California's Oceans. Through a combination of labs, aquariums and touch tanks on land and snorkeling, kayaking and collecting data in the field, students and teachers learn about the many ecosystems of the island and ocean. They have the opportunity to see and touch a whole range of fish, algae, sharks and rays, marine mammals, plankton and invertebrates. |
